About the symposium

UNCERTAINTIES – International Symposium on Uncertainty Quantification and Stochastic Modeling is held every two years and is organized by the Committee of Stochastic Modeling and Uncertainty Quantification of ABCM (Brazilian Society of Mechanical Sciences), under the auspices of ABCM and SBMAC (Brazilian Society of Applied Mathematics).

The main goal of UNCERTAINTIES is to provide a forum for presentation of recent developments and discussion concerning academic, scientific and technical aspects related to uncertainty quantification and stochastic modeling in engineering. Contributions involving both basic and practical applications are welcome.

Based on a single session format, in which all the papers are presented orally, and full immersion of a limited number of participants in a very pleasant location, the event provides an appropriate atmosphere for scientific and social interactions.

The scientific program encompasses invited lectures given by renowned experts and oral presentations of all the accepted papers. In the 3rd edition of the symposium, short courses, primarily intended for students, will be included in the program.

Traditionally, papers presented in the Symposium are selected for submission and possible publication in scientific journals.

English is adopted as the official language of the symposium, being used in the preparation of the papers and oral presentations.
